There is something truly special about weddings in Italy.
Perhaps it is the light at sunset, the historic villas, the landscapes, the food, or simply the atmosphere that makes every celebration feel timeless. For couples travelling from abroad, getting married in Italy is often more than choosing a wedding venue , it is choosing a place where their story can become a memory to remember forever.
Alexandra, from Spain, and Tobias, from Germany, chose the beautiful Villa Fenaroli for their wedding celebration, surrounded by their closest family and friends.Located in the beautiful Lake Garda area,
the venue provided the perfect setting for an elegant and emotional destination wedding in Italy.
The morning before the ceremony
The story began with the preparations.
Tobias spent the morning with his best man, sharing those relaxed and spontaneous moments that often say more than a posed portrait ever could. On the other side, Alexandra prepared for the day together with her sister, surrounded by emotions, anticipation and the little details that make every wedding morning unique.
For a documentary wedding photographer, these moments are an essential part of the story.
They are not simply photographs taken before the ceremony. They are memories of the people, relationships and emotions that surround the couple before they say "I do".
A ceremony full of emotions
The ceremony brought together everything that makes a wedding meaningful.
There were smiles, tears, emotional looks and small details ,from the flowers to the atmosphere of the venue.
These are the moments I look for when photographing a wedding: the tears that appear unexpectedly, a hand held a little tighter, a smile shared between family members, or a quiet glance between
two people who are about to begin a new chapter together.
This is the essence of wedding reportage photography: allowing the day to unfold naturally and
documenting what actually happens.
Golden hour on Lake Garda
After the ceremony, we took some time for photographs of Alexandra and Tobias as the sun began to set.
The warm Italian evening light created an incredibly romantic atmosphere, combining the elegance of the couple with the natural beauty of the landscape.
The area around Lake Garda offers an extraordinary variety of settings for wedding photography , from historic villas and elegant gardens to the lake itself and the picturesque villages that surround it.
It is one of the reasons why Lake Garda has become such an attractive destination for couples
planning a destination wedding in Italy.
A wedding story, not just a collection of photographs
For me, photographing a destination wedding is about creating something that feels authentic years after the wedding day.
Rather than directing every moment, I prefer to observe, anticipate and photograph the connections between people.
Alexandra and Tobias' wedding at Villa Fenaroli was a beautiful combination of elegance, emotion and spontaneity, a celebration that brought together two different countries and families in one of Italy's most beautiful settings.
Italy offers countless extraordinary destinations for couples planning their wedding: Lake Garda, Lake Como, Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, Puglia, Venice and many other places.
And wherever the celebration takes place, the goal remains the same:
to create photographs that don't simply show what the wedding looked like, but allow you to remember how it felt.
